Nick Vester is a Physician Assistant specializing in Psychiatry. Growing up in Dothan, AL, his journey to healthcare began at The University of Alabama where he graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in General Music. While there, he was a member of the Million Dollar Band, Symphonic Band, and Phi Sigma Pi National Honors Fraternity. He later entered into a medical assistant program at Wallace Community College, after which he worked in primary care at Southern Clinic until getting accepted into the University of South Alabama, where he earned his Masters degree in PA Studies in 2015. Following graduation from the PA program, he began working in Psychiatry for 7 years, after which he matriculated into the University of South Alabama Whiddon College of Medicine. There, Nick successfully completed 2 years of didactic education with involvement in the PEER support, Med Pride and Allies, PsychSIGN, and was a program assistant for the DREAM/South Med Prep programs.
Believing in both the art and science of medicine, Nick returns to clinical practice blending the creativity and collaboration of the arts with the precision and depth of medical science. Having worked with many populations, he aims to work with people in creating an individualized plan that provides holistic care, providing support without judgment regardless of background. He has interests in working with all ages, from childhood to older adults, and has experience in treatment in a large variety of mental health diagnoses, including, but not limited to: Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective Disorder, PTSD, Sleep Disorders, Borderline PD, Alcohol, Opioid, or other Substance Use Disorders, and Dementia.
In his spare time, Nick is a lifelong “nerd”, enjoying many fandoms and participating in collaborative games such as Dungeons and Dragons. He can often be found in the gym in his spare time as well. He also enjoys time spent at the beach, going to fan conventions, and listening to podcasts of a variety of genres.
