Dr. Sadler graduated from Hope College Cum Laude with a degree in Psychology and Chemistry. Next he completed a Masters Degree in Basic Medical Science at Wayne State University. He completed Chicago Medical School where he received an award of distinction for graduating first in his class. He was elected to the AOA honors society in his third year of medical school and elected as President of AOA his fourth year. His internship and residency were completed at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. During his third year of residency, he was elected to be one of four administrative residents which provided him the opportunity to work directly with the administration in the Department of Psychiatry and take a leadership role among his colleagues. He was also elected Co-chair of the residents and fellows committee of the Maryland Psychiatric Society. After residency, he spent five years working at Sheppard Pratt where he had a number of clinical responsibilities including working on Sheppard Pratt’s Dual Diagnosis inpatient unit and in the General and Dual Diagnosis Adult Day Hospital. He had outpatient responsibilities in the Center for Sexual Medicine where he saw patients for initial evaluations, provided therapy and did forensic evaluations for the court system and also worked seeing adult and children patients in crisis that either walked into Sheppard Pratt or made scheduled appointments. During his time at Sheppard Pratt, he was elected to the Medical Executive Committee and served as a member for 2 years. He is board certified in Adult Psychiatry
Dr. Sadler spent three years at Alta Pointe Health systems – where he managed the consult service and intakes at the adult outpatient community mental health center. He was active in the residency program, being one of the integral teachers and a member of the clinical core competency committee. Dr. Sadler was also an active teacher for medical students. He taught many lectures and grand rounds. He presented to the APPA at their fall and spring meetings. In addition, Dr. Sadler was active in the pharmacy and therapeutics committee at Alta Point and a member of the Ethics Committee at USA medical center. Dr. Sadler received the red sash teaching award from graduating medical students in 2015. The red sash award is given to those teachers who were inspiring to the medical students. At the end of his time at Alta Pointe, Dr. Sadler was appointed as assistant medical director of the community mental health center. Dr. Sadler was recently named a Distinguished Fellow by the APA.
Currently Dr. Sadler is working as medical director of the Adult inpatient unit at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He also maintains an outpatient practice through Southern Psychiatry Associates LLC in Mobile and is currently accepting new patients.
